Ehh... 'Howie' doesn't strike me as evil... and neither does 'Zeke' for that matter, but I don't think I'd be able to take Hao seriously at ALL if they called him 'Howie'. >_o;;

eh,hate me for this but this is sounding kinda' racist with all the original shaman king likers hating ONLY the american names that are given to them.I might be a little bit curious on why you guys only hate the english version.They change there names in other languages too.

I'm sure it's not to the extent that the 4Kids version changes them too (unless it's another version 4Kids handled, as they usually get worldwide distribution rights in everywhere but Asia). I don't think names like "Zeke" or "Rio" are bad (Rio because it's almost the same as the original, and Zeke because, well, I just like the name), but most names like Morty or Trey are way off from the Japanese version, and I think that raises some steam... |

actually, most other language dubs of shaman king DON'T change the names, for example, i watch the spanish version, which has all the original names, no edits, censors or anything.
Is there another language in which mankins names are changed? because of what ive heard, all the other versions, like the thai or chinese versions have the original names.
sort of off topic to SK, but usually spanish dubs that DO have name changes is because theyve been dubbed from the english version, not the original.

Okay, seriously, they couldn't call him "Hao"? WHY? WHY!!!! If they had to change it, why couldn't they at least pick something closer to "Hao" than "Zeke"...like "Bob" or "Darwin"? >_<
I mean, really, in the Japanese version, when the X Laws talk about defeating Hao, it always sounds cool, but in the dub, it's like... "It is our mission to defeat....Zeke."

Oddly enough, I do like Hao's dub voice. I don't like the VA on Yoh, but on Hao, it's okay. It's actually kind of interesting that they got the same VA...
