Actually, when Yoh was stabbed by Ren he did bleed. It was just turned black and white and the blood was stylized silver.
My thoughts on the episode: A great episode, marked by the tragic death of Ashil. In the original, I heard he was shot. In the dub today it looked like some sort of beam pierced through him. I guess I'll have to wait for Lovely to clarify. Oh, he was crying as he went down, how sad! If Ashil was a little less competent then I think he could have been a great character! If he had been more of a bungler, I think he could have stayed around and annoyed Yoh and Co.
About the X-Laws, I don't care for them much, but I do like the designs of their angels, (reminds me of the angel Digimon). The X-Laws have this cult vibe going, I can just see them with empty Kool-Aid cups lying on the ground.
Poor Yoh, he looked so depressed at the end of this episode.

Yoh didnt bleed on the show only manga. and Ashil was shot by a white feather and the leader of the X-Laws used his furioku to make it kill Ashil.

just finished seeing the episode! pretty accurate if you ask me... pink, it was a beam, the whole getting shot thing was probably because the x-laws mediums are guns... oo ok...first off...ashils voice...for some reason it was good at times and other times it sounded funny... in the first scene he sounded like he was trying to seduce hao...or maybe its just me.....and for some reason they refer to Bill as 'The Big Guy'.. ...his dub voice made me laugh XD heh, i find it funny how they replace the word 'kill' with 'eliminate' and 'destroy' ok...did opchos voice change..? or maybe its just me again...and they kept opachos name! whoo! the pentagrams...why did they make them normal stars? its not like the kids watching are gonna take notice in that...plus..i doubt they know what it represents...i see pentagrams every day >< and people usually draw stars like that! >< "The Star of Unity" is probably the worst name i have heard....its funny...dub yohmei said they were 5 elements, yet he only mentioned 4... ...and the star when he was talking was altered..doy... another note *spoiler* i think....the elements yohmei mentioned are kinda wrong...the original 5 elements of the pentagram were: fire, water, wood, earth, and metal. theres no wind...theres a whole cycle but its too long to post so nyah. dub yohmei says zeek reincarnates 3 times... ....he only reincarnates twice... ...i dont get this...but the rest of the explanation was pretty accurate this has nothing to do with this episode but---has anyone else noticed how the sky always turns red for no reason when theres a fight..? yay ashils death was kept! ...not that its a good thing...i mean the fact that 4kids didnt edit this out...one of their first...SKU ashil dont hurt me... this question is for yohko since she knows all the voices and stuff, is marcos voice done by eric stuart? it sounded like him... "come to the light" XD that line made me laugh..also this one: "we will return..we-WILL-return..." he said it in a way... i think thats it... ....oh and a side note that coming from my hao fangirl side...he looks so cute in the last scene where hes smiling! XD! ooh! one more thing, in the preview for american hotsprings, manta said "shikigami"...o_0...ok how come they say it here yet they changed the names of mikihisa's shikigami...? ooh! and zenki and gouki are in the next episode! those guy's eyes are just so..*marvels* gasp! and the scene where hao--well i wont reveal it..*cackles* i know for a fact theyll edit it though... yay im done ^^

*sobs on a random person's shoulder* What!? Auggh...my shoulder...somebody bring me an oil can quick... I liked this episode better than the last 3 episodes I've seen...however: - I didn't like the use of repeat animation during the attacks.
- The story of this one episode can't stand on it's own...it kinda tossed out 7 plot points attached to the overall story-arc, and half of a Shaman battle.
- Basil's...uhh spirit?
I need to talk about the last one...given the shows...ermm, mythos...I'm guessing Basil's item of power was a mirror...but what was his spirit? I thought it was an ancient earth spirit (seeing as how Hao can have an ancient fire spirit) but why a mech looking thing instead of a golem? I really enjoyed two minor things the most: The mood of Hao and Co. around the campfire at the beginning, and the shattering of the mirror when Basil died. (who cares about what he said...it was the shattering of the mirror that made the death) LC

Probably because the X-laws philosophy is join us and be saved, refuse and die. Just because they say that they are fighting for goodness and justice doesn't mean they are. They may well belive that they are on a rightous path, but there is no one more vicious and brutal than a fanantic.

Well, since I can't answer a few questions because I haven't seen the dubbed episode yet, I can answer a few.
1-Yeah, by "shot" I meant "shot by a beam of light" . heh.
2- Ashil's medium that he oversouls is the ground itself . It just ends up looking like a mech for him. That's what I meant when I said his medium was both special AND mundane ^_~ . I think this was done to show how powerful he is (the ground/earth seems like it would be a difficult thing to control!)
Now a question, (that I'll find out tomorrow anyways ^^;. )
What did Ashil say when he died in the dub? In the original he just said "Hao-sama...." .
Magic as Lovely understands it: Eastern Magic: fire, water, wood, earth, and metal Western Magic: Earth, fire, wind, water .
Generally speaking. In RPG's electricty gets thrown in there a lot ^^; . Light and darkness too (wait, light/dark -yin/yang is more of an eastern concept isn't it? ugh... I'm confusing myself ^^;. ..)

Hence the reason I believe the X-laws are a sort of jab at Fundamentilist Christianity (the one's who tend to go overboard.) But really, the X-laws, as the anime portrays them, Is really a sort of stab at religious fanatacism in general. (I've heard the X-laws are a bit more 3 dimentional in the manga. But I actually think they work quite well in the anime as simple symbolism.)

You mean doesn't in the dub. (And in my opinion that's open to debate, he seemed to be flirting with Zeke/Hao.) As far as I know (which really isn't much), Basil/Ashil is an anime-only character. The fact that he kept calling Zeke "master" had me giggling pervertedly through the entire episode. And yes, the elements were wrong. They changed it to the four western elements for the four lower points, and made the top "the spirit world". But as with Yuugioh, I like the dub, in spite of its weirdness.... Pinkechidna: Yes. But wasn't it applesauce? Or am I thinking of a different cult? -Innle (basketball gooooood...don't ask.)

Ashil is not the only one Rio calls Yoh master.
