Maybe I'm just ignorant, but at the end of the dub, when Lyserg receives his angel (or archspirit, as angel appears to be offensive now), he says something along the lines of "She's beautiful" about his angel, Zalel (I think it's Zerual in the original). I just wonder, how can he tell Zalel is a "she"? The angels, to me, do not look like they possess any gender-descriptive traits, even for Meene's angel, Gabriel, which has a heart design, but considering it is called Gabriel, it might not be a female.
Plus, when it showed the very first scene with the X-Laws and their angel seal around the Iron Maiden, did it sound like someone was humming (like they might be meditating, though I think it was intended to be a hum of energy from the angels' seal)?
And for one last thought, I do not think the gun looks like a funnel, but it just look a little flat (the gun originally had two barrels, and the dub edited them together, so the barrel looks like a long vertical slit), and the trigger doesn't look like it can be pulled on the cricket gun in either version.

Aw, Lyserg's original gun was so cute, too.
Lol, this is kinda random (but not really) but I really gotta mention it...
So, I was not home when Mankin was on, so I told my one friend to record it for me. And...she forgot (but that was okay because a few minute before we left I figured out how to time-set the VCR).
She felt horrible, so she made me a little comic book in which she drew out what happened in the eppie ;D.
It was hilarious. If I had a scanner, I would scan it for you guys. My favorite part was:
(When Lyserg had to chose sides)
-Marco: Come with us! You can have POWER and a shiny white gun! *glitter glitter*
-Lyserg: OoooOOOOoo...my Precious...
-Yoh: Hey wait! I can give you...uhm...a piece of red string and...um......some lint!

With all this talk about the gender, it makes me wonder... are the angels genderless in Japanese? I know sometimes creatures are genderless and then when it's dubbed, they get a gender because we can't go around calling them 'its' and using incorrect grammar calling one person 'they' and such.

Now... I have a couple of months to work on these last 4 comparisons. Muwahaha.... don't new episodes start around June-July (according to Shaman King Nation)? That's like a little more than a month. Or am I mistaken about this schedule? |
