If 4kids had marketed Yu-Gi-Oh towards it's original audience instead of turning it into a 5 second attention span kid show then maybe the dub wouldn't be losing it's poularity. GX is more kid-orientated but it been getting darker and darker since the 7 assasins arc started. I'm pretty sure Yu-gi-oh was a kid's show in Japan, too...

....and when Dark Yugi made that criminal light himself on fire using a lighter and a bottle of alcohol... Then again, I'm not entirely sure they left that in the first anime. ^^;;;

They left it in the first series, he just didn't blow up. He put the gun down, thus cheating at Dark Yuugi's game, so Dark Yuugi put him in an illusion where a dragon came out of his gun and ate him alive.
If some of you still don't believe me then I could put up the pages where Malik slices the tatoo of his father's back or the bit when Mahaado is cut up into a mass of core by this giant axe.

Then again, I'm not entirely sure they left that in the first anime. ^^;;; Meh, it was close. But the anime kind of makes it look like he went insane from the shadow game, where in the manga, the real criminal (the escaped convict) actually set himself on fire when his lit cigarette fell on the Russian vodka.... Anyways, it wil be interesting to see if they do edit Asuka and Burst Lady in the dub. I mean, Burst Lady, though she is not drawn like a slut or anything, has a fairly large chest showing a lot (most likely to get the Harpy Lady treatment), and Asuka's skirt is shorter than anything Anzu or Mai wore. *gets cracked in the skull for talking about fairly perverted or adult things* And who knows if the dub will still call the Sangenma the demon cards during the 7 Stars arc....

From the subbed clip of that I've seen, apparently, the criminal IS going insane, and does even say "Take this madness away."
HOWEVER, you indeed are right, my friend. What he actually says is:
"Dare ga! Dare ga! Hayaku! Kono hi yo! Keshitiguri-eeee!"
This means "Someone/whoever! Someone/whoever! Quickly/Hurry! This fire! Put it out/Take it away!"
The thing is, in anime, there is even limits on what you can do, that you don't have in manga.
E.g. The sign on Neji's forehead, a sign of the Buddha, looks like a Swastika, in the manga, but in the anime, it looks like two hooks overlapping.
Similarly, Portgas D. Ace's symbol on his back, the insignia for Whitebeard, was the same symbol, with a moustached man, whilst the anime changed this into a cross with the face.
E.g. Violence is toned down somewhat in anime, like for instance, our criminal being literally set on fire, and mentally set on fire.

Exactly. The 'gallows' in Yuugi versus Player Killer in the manga was removed in the animé, Viser Death and Viser shock were turned into mere chains in Mai versus Malik. But Viser Death and Viser Shock were pretty sick. They drill into Panther Warrior's skull when Malik used them against Jonouchi in the manga.
Long story short, Lagowe, think again ;D

Ah, thanks for the guy-goes-insane info. ^_^ By the way, if anyone knows, that is, was the Death-T skipped in the Yu-Gi-Oh anime? Meh, most likely was.

In case you did not know or if anyone else does not, there are two Yu-Gi-Oh animes: the first is Yu-Gi-Oh, the one that does all the stories before the Duelist Kingdom arc, and then there is Yu-Gi-Oh DM, the one that focuses on the card game. Actually, make that three animes. There is also the spin-off of YGO-DM, which is, of course, GX. EDIT: Ryu mentioned the site in the manga scans, but here is a link to Janime, a Yu-Gi-Oh with a lot of info

And lots of stolen fanarts. Please don't support them.
Poor Shou... oops, I mean "Cyrus." What the hell were they smoking?!

There was a kid in my third grade class named "Cyrus".
Sho's name would have been fine if they kept his last name.

I'll have to see the U.S. book version.. I think I remember the index finger replacing the middle... but I'm not sure. At any rate, the best parts of the YGO manga have been already released..

The best parts? Personally I find that the Shadow games arc is the worst arc, but I guess that's just my opinion. I like Battle City and the Memory arc.
We should probably get back on topic about how tremendously aweful the dub names for GX are though.
