if anyone gets Naruto, I hope it's ADV. with the exception of the last few Sailor Moon R ep.s, they do everything right. if 4kids gets it, they'll make Haku a girl. (so will Pioneer.) they'll also mispronounce any names they don't change.  |

Although it would thorougly suck if 4kids got it, I kinda doubt they will. Just because they would have to do SOOOO much editing, it wouldn't really be worth it. Naruto is an EXTREMELY violent anime. They would have to fill over half the show with commercials if they edited out all the violence, to make up a half an hour show.

I bet that 4kids is going to get Naruto. IMO they are out to monopolize Shonen Jump. If FUNimation gets it, they may treat it right, but they might go the DBGT route on it (missing episodes, etc.). I hope it doesn't go to Pioneer/Geneon, cuz I really hate just about everything Pioneer has (the so-called "uncut" dubs of Sailor Moon in particular). I totally disagree, I hope Geneon gets it, they come out with the best releases, not sure about Sailor Moon though..  |

The rumor mill has been going CRAZY again ^^;.
Please keep in mind, the following info is merely the current batch of rumors that have been floating around:
Apparently, at some Japanese anime con coming up, I've heard they are going to announce who is BIDDING for Naruto. The newest rumor has Warner Brothers involved in the bidding 0_o (not sure how much I believe this newest crop of rumors...)

Haha, Lovely, for some reason when you said "Bidding" I had the image of an auction with Naruto tied up and all these coperate guys in suits bidding millions of dollars for him....
This is going to be fun to watch develope. I think WB might do ok with it, if it uses the same sort of direction they did with Miyazaki's films.... oops, that was Disney wasnt it....
As alsways, I wish Naruto luck. The only voice I am not looking forward to hearing in English is Rock Lee. His voice is already so... cool and, almost english-like in my opinion. At least it will be a season before he shows up, they'll have time for auditions... or to teach his japanese voice actor fluent english..... (only in my dreams, -_-)

The other voices I dread for dubbing is that of Naruto and Kakashi. Kakashi's is so cool, and relaxed, and Naruto's is so freakin unique. And in the dub they would edit out all his cute "Dattebyo" moments. Those are the best. |

I agree. I think they would end up dubbing it terribly when Naruto talks. Because of his frequent saying of "dattebayo", it would mean for a lot of random english filler for the lost syllables.
For Shaman King the names arent really that extreme, but in Naruto, they have alot of names that Im sure they would change, like "Kakashi" and "Sasuke". We already know what they did to Cardcaptor SaKURa. I suppose the butchering of names isnt that bad... but for those of you who have seen farther up into the anime:
SPOILERS---
Things like when Gaara kills off the three Rain Ninjas by making them explode... very.. bloody. As well as the Sannin Battle, or the murdering of Sasuke's family... the storyline wouldnt be complete without some of the more gorey parts.
I just dont know how you can have a show about Ninjas... that dont hurt each other...

I have, it was called keropi or, something, you know, that thing with frogs for little kids. I dont think hello kitty had much pain either...
But anyways, I really doubt they will actually drastically change many of the names. I dont see them changing Kakashi, and, they might pronounce Sasuke "Sas-uu-key". Shikamauru might be changed, as with most of the names that sound like that.... I think it all depends on who ends up dubbing it.
It just wont be the same without sexy-no-jutsu, or, summoning-no-jutsu.... Just plain, "summoning technique" will be so bland. Sorta like the Luffy's attacks in One piece...

Best case scenario:It winds up on Adult Swim
2nd best case:It winds up on Toonami
3rd best case:It winds up on neither of those, but 4Kids doesn't get it
Worst case:4Kids gets it
That pretty much sums up how I feel. Then again, I've seen all the fansubbed eps. so far, so the only reason I'd have to watch the dub is to see how good it is.

Actually, yeah, I do hope Naruto isn't dubbed by 4Kids for a few reasons other than name pronounciations... I.e. the fact that all good animes dubbed by 4Kids are rendered by my peers as "Sad kiddy shows/cartoons". *goes on rant about animes being nothing like cartoons*
