Well, I mean, they called the "Byakugan" the "Evil Eye" (sorta like Hiei's Jagan eye, I suppose), and for a while they were calling Gai-sensei "Master Guy" , and apparently Ino's technique is now called "Art of the Valentine" >.< But that was a few chapters ago...Viz's translation has recently gotten better, but maybe that's only because Neji and Ino have yet to use their techniques. XD

"Art of the Valentine"?! What the....? Her technique is like... a mixture of mind control and body switching...how can you call that "art of the valentine"?
This is what makes me frustrated, the random, nonsensical changes that they make.

But hey, at least they are trying.

It's kinda funny the way they do attack names in Shaman King. They don't completely translate the name of the attack, yet they don't completely leave it either. Like in Volume 2, where Amidamaru uses Shinkuu Buttagiri, they say "Shockwave Buddha Giri!!" and then on the bottom it says "to cleave or chop" for the translation. I don't get why they translated only half the phrase...

I think they were only translating the word "Giri" there. Shockwave and Buddha are kind of givens I believe.

Do you read the original Japanese version?

I believe "The Art of the Valentine" was put there to sound girly, but there may be another meaning behind the word that I don't know of yet.

A gift sent as a token of love to one's sweetheart on Saint Valentine's Day. 2. A person singled out especially as one's sweetheart on Saint Valentine's Day. "

I also notice that Ino sarcastically called Sakura a dear for letting her taking over her body. Perhaps "Art of the Valentine" is sarcastically named as the "host" is "kind" enough to let his or her body get taken over (again, this is only from what I gleam from the meaning of the words)

Even with the attack name changes, I am glad I read the American version of the manga.

I don't generally read much naruto manga, I prefer the anime, but when I do read it, yeah, I read the original.
