Hey Im new here but I was just thinking that with all the dubing that has already been going on with 4-Kids, wouldnt it suck if they brought Naruto over to the Fox Box with 4-Kids, tell me what ya think.

We don't have to worry about 4kids getting Naruto for a while. In fact, we don't have to worry about 4kids getting much of anything other than small things for a while, considering they're gonna be pretty much broke after buying One Piece (one of the most expensive lisences that was out there).

Don't be so sure, 4kids has a LOT of money to throw around due to their toy marketing.
Currently Naruto is involved in a huge liscencing war.
And, as sad as I am to say this, I actually DO think that 4kids is going to get it in the end.

As long as Funimation or someone ends up getting the rights to the Japanese version, I wouldn't care as much. Although I've never seen Naruto before, so I don't really care if they do get it or not (no offense to Naruto fans). ^^;;

Well i dont know if they could even do it know, there is quite alot of violence like

When the Teacher Kakashi was trying to kill someone a boy named Haku jumps in the way and he punches right threw him, what would they do on a 4-kids version just have the guy get punched and then he just falls over and just dissipears.

Saturn and I are right behind the Japanese showings by a week, so we're pretty familiar with the anime.
I agree with Lovely that 4Kids could easily pick it up with their money and proven marketing strategy across the world...
HOWEVER, there's no way you can air that series on public television...I can see it being edited enough to air on Adult Swim, Saturn agrees with me on this...there's just too much violence that carries through from episode to episode...
Hylian Ranger mentioned the part where Haku dies...that doesn't include right after where Zabuza and Gato die horrible deaths...or right before where Sasuke gets turned into a human pin-cushion...way too much violence...
Lovely, you mentioned a bid war. Where are you getting your information from and which companies are currently involved?

I hang out a lot on the AoD (htpp://www.animeondvd.com) message boards a lot. Studio reps pop in from time to time and tell us a few choice things . Basically, they can never tell us all that much, but a lot of them have mentioned "the big bidding war" that Naruto is currently going through. Which companies it all concens though hasn't been told.
Also, even though I personally have never seen the anime for One Piece, I have heard from others on that board that one Piece can get just as bloody and violent as Naruto (apparentlly Zoro is quite the bleeder ^^;.). So violence doesn't really seem to be something that will stop 4kids.

This is alittle off topic, but I do want to mention how much 4kids has left in the anime One Piece.
Somebody did get shot in the previous episode and Shanks losing his arm was left in as well.
Not to mention alcohol refrences (not that any are mentioned by name).
I think 4kids may be pushing the envelope on what they are going to leave in their dubbed anime.

I bet that 4kids is going to get Naruto. IMO they are out to monopolize Shonen Jump. If FUNimation gets it, they may treat it right, but they might go the DBGT route on it (missing episodes, etc.). I hope it doesn't go to Pioneer/Geneon, cuz I really hate just about everything Pioneer has (the so-called "uncut" dubs of Sailor Moon in particular).

I'm hoping to dear God the ADV DVDs get the right to Naruto, like Evangelion or Burn Up Excess etc. They do well, plus they do Japanese versions as well.
4Kids would probably do terrible things to Naruto, like get rid of the references to Zabuza's past, or they'd edit out anything related to Come Come Paradise or Naruko, or Jiraiya's habits.

I believe that One piece would probably be easier to edit because of how silly and unbelievable it is already. Like they have already done, they could easily edit out blood, or dumb it down a bit, sorta like with Shanks I believe. But then again, I havnt seen much on One piece, only 2 movies and a special, so, yah.
Naruto however, is much more "real" although it has magic like abilities, they even go ahead and explain how the "chakra" veins in the body work. Although I have watched Naruto, I didnt really like it for most of the first "season", but once Rock Lee and them started showing up, I found it a mich better series.
Part of me wants to see a 4kids dub of Naruto, just to see how they are going to do things, also because I am in Canada, FoxBox is the earliest way we will get it. The part of me that is among the (way to many) Naruto and anime fans in general that are really just hyped up fanboys/girls that overhype Naruto to no end, really hope someone other than 4kids gets it.
I just cannot wait to hear Naruto and the whole cast in English, should be great, regardless.

Ya know, I caught the last bit of One Piece yesterday where Luffy's hat gets ruined and he has his flashback yada yada...the entire thing felt like Dragon Ball to me...not like Naruto. And I think Vasuki hit it...it doesn't feel real. In Naruto they make you sympathetic to just about every character that dies or is in a life or death situation, and they make it feel real somehow...I never got that same tension from watching Dragon Ball or One Piece...I didn't feel it in Shaman King until they gave Lee Pailong's backstory...I never felt bad that Amidamaru or his weaponsmith friend got killed or how they got killed...I felt really bad when I found out how Lee Pai Long went down. It's what Vasuki said about realism...so if 4Kids edits out all the blood in Haku's and Zabuza's deaths, it's still going to be plenty tragic since these characters have been fleshed out...I stick by what I said about it being Adult Swim material only after editing... Personally, I hope that NO ONE gets Naruto. I would love to see it, just not on American TV. Because of strict American editing standards (even on adult swim), they would hack poor Naruto to death. I've never seen the show but I've read the manga from Viz, which I'm sure they've already dumbed down a bit. It's pretty violent, but I would like to keep it that way. I mean, come on they're ninjas, show me a serious anime about ninjas that isn't violent and I'll show you a monkey that can lay fabrege eggs. I just hope that someone will release Naruto straight to uncut DVD, with an accurate dub for non-japanese speaking fans. *Sigh* Wishful thinking.

I really cannot wait for an English version of Naruto. I mean, some of the voices already sound so similar to english voices, it will be interesting to see if they can get close matched. If they had English skills, I could easily heard Naruto and Rock Lee speaking english with their current actors.
A direct to DVD release probably would be best, but with Naruto's insane poularity, it will probably get on TV somehow. What scares me is, how popular it might get. If we look at how popular DBZ was, it brought many new fans into anime. Considering, when I went to my first anime convention, 1/5 people were cosplaying as some sort of Naruto character, it sorta makes me fear how much potential Naruto has to become a fad. As much as a love the show (it is my second favourite japanese series next to Shaman King), I think it is fairly over-rated. I have reviewed the series and given it a perfect grade in almost everything, but, the popularity is starting to get me annoyed, anime fans seem to just be conforming just because it is so popular. (Just my observations)
With my rant said, even if a company gets the rights, I would say it will be probably at least 2 years before we see it. Unless 4kids does get it, and then we either get a wonderful rush job like One Piece was almost gifted with (Rushed, yet ok dub theme, and original score), or we could get a last minute conforming to Western culture and general 4kids dubbing guidelines, (Like One Piece eventually became.)
