ADV Films SUCKS!!! And here's why (spiolers): (in "Neon Genesis: Evangelion") they made it look like Asuka was in love with Shinji (that's not what sucks), and then they had Shinji kill Asuka! What the heck is wrong with them!?!.
(In "Samurai X: Rflection") They killed Shinta (Kenshin)!
Those are the only reasons I can think of right now that makes ADV Films suck. Does anyone else have anything?

umm... 1, ADV doesn't make the anime, they just translate it. And 2, this should be in the anime forum.

Well, they still suck becasue if they never trastlaed it, I probably never would've seen it. Well, I wasn't sure if it should be in the "anime" or the "general" forum, but I figured since I wasn't sure...yeah, you know, move it if you want to/can.

I actually want to thank ADV for all the work they do. Most of their subtitle translations are pretty accurate, even if their dubs suck.

Hmm, I moved it to Anime on TV, since we're talking about ADV here. And...the second spoiler...* Doesn't he originally die? I read somewhere he did. He died while he laid on Kaoru's lap, if I remember... ;;[Edit] *changes colors and shakes fist* Yeah, ADV's voice acting is great all the time. But they do a pretty good job translating for subtitles. |

;;; I...like..ADV....*holds up protective shield* I have lots of their anime's on dvd..*looks at dvd shelf*: Sorcerer Hunters, DN Angel, Azumanga Daioh, Steel Angel Kurumi, Excel Saga, Soul Hunter, Slayers Premium, Chrno Crusade....I personally like their dubs...the voices fit usually to me..then again i don't watch the japanese versions...but still, they have out alot of good anime's, and they seem to at least dub them decently, so i'm pretty thankful for them. |

I respect ADV. Unlike some other companies *cough4Kidscough*, they seem to understand the shows the license as well as the fans who watch them, do not butcher them, even leave stuff like "-chan" and "-san" in the dubs, and release high quality DVDs for a more decent price then some other companies. I've met one of the head people of ADV, Matt Greenfield, and he's a cool guy.

Resurie's right, they don't actually MAKE the animes, they just translate it. It's like saying Manga Entertainment sucks because they don't actually do manga. It's just a name.
Secondly, for your Evangelion thing, blame Hideaki Anno. If you're referencing to the film, End of Evangelion, blame all those fans who told him his original ending sucked.
Finally, if you don't like how an anime ends, tough noogies! That's the way it goes! That's what fanfics are for!

I LOVE ADV, their voice work has improved dramatically over the year and they are one of the few companies that listen to fans on a regular basis.

"ADV Films" is a subtitle and dubbing studio (I think? I know it's a dubbing studio, but not sure about subtitles though).

I've never had anything bad to say about ADV films. They've been a very good company like everyone else has said. I personally never liked Evangelion, but I don't blame ADV for that...

Considering that ADV releases bilingual and sub-only anime DVDs, I'd say it'd be pretty hard for them not to be a subbing studio, but they don't actually produce any of their anime. Anyway, I haven't really seen much of ADV's DVDs. The only DVDs I own from them are volumes one and two of Pretear and the Sailor Moon season one and two DVD boxsets. I thought they did a good job with Pretear (the dub is only mediocre to me, though), but their DVD release of Sailor Moon was pretty shabby. Of course, that had more to do with them having to deal with having only crappy masters than anything else, but they could've handled their exchange thing for the sets a little better. It also annoys me that ADV is too strict about people downloading their licensed anime titles.
They have so many shows I want to watch, but I can't because I can't afford to buy them all expcet for at Christmas or my birthday, and I don't get their Anime Network, so my only choice is for me to download. I remember when they went after a certain torrent site (I'm not sure if I should link it or not because they have downloads for fansubs as well as licensed series). Rather than shutting the site down permanetly, they just asked for them to take down all the downloads of their licensed anime yet they didn't say anything about the anime they have there that's been licensed by other U.S. companies. ^^;; I know that downloading is illegal and ADV is only trying to make a profit, but it's still not fair and I can still whine about it, can't I?
