Man, I gotta get back into DDR. I have the original one and Konamix for the Playstation. I remember cycling through the song list on both of those games and going "Where the hell is 'Butterfly'?" Thats my favorite DDR song ( T _ T )
Now, as for PiU, I~~~mmm just not feeling that game. I mean the songs are pretty good, but I'm just not a fan of how the arrows are all diagnol and what not, It just throws me off.
BTW, does anyone know if any of the newer DDR games (home-versions) have the song 'Butterfly'?

GOD! No matter how hard I try, I can't beat Behtovens Virus on hard! (Pump it Up machine...) I just mess up on the obligatory turns v_v .... And... other places as well. One more thing about the Pump it Up machine that makes it different from DDR. The buttons are spaced further out from each other. SO, if you have short legs like me, you've got to learn to make some impressive jumps *laughs*. I LOVE Pump it Up: Exceed 2. (it's the newest version of the game.) The thing I like about it is the user interface. It's easy and quick to use. BOTH DDR and PiU should of used this interface a long time ago. "Arcade Mode" has three channels "Banya" , "Korean Pop", and "Pop". "Banya" is PiU original songs, this is where you can find re-mixes of classical songs (and a remix of Ave Maria 0_o . That was just weird.) It's really easy to switch stations when looking for a song. Just press the righ diagnol. When you finally find a song you like, just select it, and you come to a menu wich gives you the option to choose ANY of the difficulties. Acompanied by a large number telling you the difficult of said song. No feet or orbs to count. ACTUAL numbers. If you decide you don't want the song, just press right diagnol to choose another. Quick, simple, easy, and it's nice for the eyes . But enough about Pump it Up. NEW DANCING GAME! This one is called In the Groove (ItG,) and it's being released by the company Red Octane. The company hailed by fans for their quaility dance pad's. Now, word on the street is that InG is actually a bit better at following the tune then both DDR and PiU. ALL the songs are original with no "liscenced" tunes. In this review, the fact that InG doesn't have any liscenced songs is counted as a BAD thing. However, in my opinion, the game actually appeals to me MORE because of this. The arrows themselves are polygons as opposed to pixels, so it's said that the game is a bit easier on the eyes. ItG uses a DDR pad to play by the way. Anyhoo... the game is out now, for those of you who are curious. I am incredibly intersted and this game + metal pad bundle looks incredibly tempting. I need to save some money for it though. Also, I'm still debating with myself on whether I want a metal pad or a soft pad.

I think I have heard of In the Groove, but I never got to play it. I have tried to play DDR, but I was born with two left feet (not literally, because it would be hard to walk..). I look like a fool trying to play in arcades, but I still play at home with a controller. I really need a pad for home, so I can practice with minimum embarrassment. The songs are very good, and some I have heard form elsewhere. I can play on standard, but that's about it. Yeah, I stink at it, but DDR is still fun! ;D

You can find the game and pads at any online retailer really. In fact, I've recently purchased the In the Groove game and the RedOctane Ignition Pad 3.0 from the RedOctane site itself. If you are looking for an actual "brick and mortar" location, than try checking out Electronic Botique (EB) or Best Buy. In fact, if you ask, I'm somewhat certain that if EB doesn't have the pads or game in-store, that they'll probably be able to order it for you.

Confirmed song list for Pump it Up PS2 versionWeeeee~ There's like 100 songs on that list . EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to mention one more thing I learned about In the Groove this week. Apparently, InG has some songs where you're supposed to hit three buttons at a time, basically forcing you to use your hands. Heh, fun ^^ .

Ah DDR....First time I stole it, uh borrowed....from my cousin, I had to use a controller ._. Yay fun. I never had enough nerve to play DDR in an arcade by myself, thus I had to drag a friend of mine and play it. Controller was ok, real life was not =D First time I played DDR, I fell off the thing... half my fault for twisting myself and half friend's for hitting me with her arm. I learned the value of that handbar. But really, when you play Standard, a person usually looks like a gorilla staring at the floor and stomping. At least that's how my cousin described me and my friend. PiU was a new twist from DDR to me...fell off it the first three times. Note, when I say fell, I mean really fell as in '*trip* AUGH *crash*' the diagonals just confuzzled me. XP Then with the arrival of PiU 2, I was rather forced to play it. Har har, was I surprised to see Korean pop It's a game, AND it's excercise! Whoo! *shot* =D I remember ez2dancer! I saw it in this huge mall in Seoul. It looked pretty, and it was even more fun seeing people dancing xD There were these weird black-ish disks on the bottom floor where pads were supposed to be. I think... x.x I've rambled enough. *runs off cliff*

I don't know if this information is useful to anyone, there's DDR at Knott's Berry Farm. It's a dollar to play three games. Please don't shoot me! *shot*

Hey, Matamune, here is a friendly tip, NEVER look at the dance mat while playing.
I'm not being mean, I'm serious ^^;. The only way to suceed in the game is to learn where the buttons are by memory, not to hard once you start doing it ^^.

We went to the arcade to play some DDR today and they no longer have DDR *cries* but instead they had the In the Groove 2 game. I did not realize they released an arcade version of this game. I also didn't realize they had a second game out.
The thing reminds me too much of Step Step Revolution for the computer though. And the arrows moving up and out on the screen really took some getting used to.

Oooh So that was why....*rubs bump on head* ;; I had a habit of always moving up the mat all the time so I looked down and up and I fall rather easily 'OH SHI- *thump*' I have no idea where this question came from but I've wondered how much money have you ever spent on a dancing game in an arcade? xD; I know I've spent near 50... >>; The addiction bled my money dry ;-; *shot for pointless conversation*

Samba De Amigo is my favourite dance game..in party mode, that is, you have to use your whole body and pull of all the poses while playing the marraccas. Great fun, it beats ddr.
