I didn't notice any Hao-Go's on Mari... Um, anyhoo, here's episode comparison 39And uh, Yeah Res... it's been cold down here in Florida recently. Though it warmed up the past two days. It's supposed to get cold again tomorrow I think. Florida winters are weird. Hence the reason I'm still fighting a cold ^_^;.

I'd get on my knees and thank whatever diety you worship that you didn't have to hear the ear-spliiting heart shattering dialogue. Oh, and me likes Kanna's voice ;D
But just seeing the words isn't that bad, but seeing poor Mari's mouth open and those disgusting, foul words spill out, it aged me 3 years. Goodbye, sweet innocence. I suggest to those who haven't seen the episode to stay away from it. Just don't do it. Say no. Whatever, just be prepared.

Nice comparison, lovely. I liked how you had a screen shot of BOTH chuck's original and changed gun. That was nice. I also liked your links that showed were Marri got her look from. She really is a goth girl. (not tht I didn't know that already, lol)

wow...cant remember the last time ive seen so many responses to one episode about the swear words, you can learn about them, and other common Japanese phrases, here (kinda stealing the thunder from that "Learn Japanese" thread, sorry) www.enpitsudo-dojo.com/libotakuese1.htmlnow, about the dub, ill just make it clear that this was my favorite episode in the entire series, ALL BECAUSE OF THAT LEGENDARY LEFT!!! YAY!! GO ANNA!!! ^-^ ahem...and now, as usual, they completely RUIN that moment. I see that people in this thread are relatively happy that they left it, but I say 4kids COMPLETELY DESTROYED IT!!! the reason i loved that moment so much was the surprise that I got from it. It gave me a completely new respect for Anna. see, in the original, when hao first catches Anna's slap, we all go like "ooooo....shit!!! omg!!!" and then after Manta and Tamao go "the first time that hand has been stopped!!! 0_0" there's like a moment of silence when Anna chuckles, "You're so naive..." ... and then...SLAP!!!!! "YOU FORGOT ABOUT MY LEFT HAND!!" and my surprise and amazement when that happened was like a slap to my own face!!! however...T-T...the dub completely destroyed the surprise T-T (can't use "kill"). Instead of the moment of silence, we have Anna announcing her surprise attack, "Hah, it's usually my second move that impresses." (something like that) and all the suspense and impact disappears, because WE KNOW IT'S COMING!!! ok...I know that was a small, subtle edit, but to me, it made a big difference. I'm just extra sensitive about that moment because it was my favorite. So, I guess everyone's gotta do this at least once... *takes katana and runs off to 4kids hq*

I haven't seen the uncut version, but I still found the mall and barbie comments extremly odd...well, at least I now know Mari is not suppose to be a valley girl. totally enjoyed the Anna scenes though, especially now the two group meet up. but this week they didn't continued it though...did the 2nd season ends?

No. There are only about twenty-four more episodes left so I'm sure that they are just showing reruns to prolong the series. Shaman King is only 63 episodes long. Pretty short.

Pretty short. hmm...last i counted, SK was 64 episodes long, if you count the epilogue. anyway, 64 episodes is a pretty medium sized anime, considering that many of them out there are like one season long (around 24 episodes).

Yeah...but...the average shounen anime is around fifty episodes long for once season. But then again, I'm talking about shounen kiddy anime (Digimon, Beyblade). And there are some anime *coughPokemoncough* that go on and on and on forever and ever with no end. I'm kinda glad Shaman King isn't one of them.

You both make very good points. Shaman King would definetly lose interest if it turned into pokemon. And Hana, thank you for the correction. I forgot the epilouge episode.

Looks like it's time for another Japanese culture lesson...
In Japan, the television year is separated into four periods called "kuru," which are 13 weeks long each. Generally, one season is equal to 2 "kuru", or 26 weeks. As anime is aired once a week, this makes one season 26 episodes.
Now, as for episode counts, there are pretty much 3 types of anime.
The first type is the type that most anime released in the US is, the one-season set amount. These are series that are specifically set out to run for exactly 26 episodes (although they occasionally go for 24 or 25). Sometimes they'll go for 2 seasons (52 episodes, sometimes 50 or 51). Digimon and Ojamajo Doremi are the only exceptions to this I can think of, as each of their "seasons" goes for 2 seasons (52 episodes each for Digimon, 49-51 for Ojamajo Doremi).
The second type is the type like Pokemon, and Naruto, One Piece, Dragonball, etc. These are the open-ended series, and go for as long as they are popular. Usually they have a long-runing manga behind them, which is years ahead of the anime, so they have plenty of material to work from. These series generally go for ages.
The third type is a mix between the "designated amount of episodes" and the "go forever." Many of these, I've found, are series that are based off of an unfinished manga, but aren't appropriate for a never-ending series (FMA and SK come to mind). These are ones where you can't tell a decent story within a single season (26 episodes), but you want to set a designated number of episodes. Usually, these tend to follow the manga so far, then once they get to where the manga is, they go off on their own, creating a different ending. This is where you get your strange episode numbers (like 64). Sailor Moon is a bit like this, except there are 5 season with 200 episodes (which comes down to roughly 40 episodes each season... some have more, some have less), where they tried to follow the manga, until the manga got behind them, and they made up a new ending for each season (except Stars, in which they didn't follow the manga at all).
