Crap... you guys are right... it IS "Joco" (all they changed was the first letters of Choco's name) I've just got into the bad habit of spelling it wrong all the time T_T . Now it looks like I'll have to go back T_T ....
Well, thanks for pointing it out guys. It's better that I realised this now and not at the end of the series ^^; .

I have a question. Is Keiko Yohmei and Kino's daughter or daughter in law? She calls Kino mother and Mikihisa calls Yohmei by his first name. If so, then how are Yohmei and Kino Asakuras? Unless Mikihisa is a cousin to Keiko? Perhaps I misheard the conversation or the dub messed it up?

Keiko is the Asakura, Mikihisa married into the Asakura family. So that would mean he took on his wife's name, not the other way around. It's not common in Japan, so it makes a man look weak...or something...but I guess he did it to keep the Asakura family going... ._.

Thanks Resurie, I'll respond to your lovely hi on the Newbie thread but thanks for the information! That explains the mystery. I think it's sorta sweet for Mikihisa to take Keiko's name, maybe he did it out of love? Though they are a traditional family, so you have a good theory? So what else do we know about Keiko? Is she a Shaman or a Itako? Why isn't she seen more? I know this is the only time she appears, but it's sad. She looks like an interesting character.

About this whole "taking-the-wife's-name" thing, yeah, it's pretty much a sort of tradition for the male to take the female's name, if she is the last in line (no boy in the latest generation).
So, this would imply that Keiko was an only daughter to Yohmei and Kino, so when Mikihisa married Keiko, he'd have to take her name, to keep the Asakura line going.
Another example would be "Evangelion" when Gendo Rokubunji had to take the name of "Ikari", because Yui was the last of the Ikari line.
