Yeah... this episode freaks me out on a variety of levels. It's just creepy. A lot will probably be cut dialoug wise, and a few things will most DEFINETELY be cut visually.
So, first off. The first reason this episode creeps me out.
Well, the first time I saw this episode it was with REALLY bad subtitles (bootleg subs maybe?) AND the file stopped working JUST when things in the episode were getting REALLY weird. So, the subject matter mixed with the bad subtitles made for an odd experience.
This episode is about religion. Seriously. So just hearing that you KNOW the X-laws are involved. . But the episode talked about Gods, and power and there is even a good amount of implied violence. It should also be mentioned that this episode remarks that shaman of REALLY high power are known as "God class" (Kami class)
It's a good episode. Just creepy (In my opinion anyways. Res is apparently amused by it all 0_o ... *laughs*.)
So, edited to fit childrens network standards, this episode will DEFFINETLY not have the same impact. Just so you know going in.
This episode also contains a moment (that will probably be cut) where something... uh... wierd happens. When it first happens the inital reaction is -- "OH MY GOD! HE didn't just...??!! "
Then, "T-that was mean..."
Then while you are thinking about it a few days later, " He just... AHAHAHAHAHA!!!!"
NOTES AND SPOILERS! HUGE spoilers. Seriously. I give away everything in the episode this time.

Lets get the funny over with first ^_~ .
1- Anna trying to buy expensive items for a low cost AND trying to use Japanese yen to buy it to boot ^^;.
2- A resteraunt is called "The Kings Corn" in english ^^; . I just thought the name was funny.
3- I don't know... I'm not from the west. But... I kind of doubt there are THAT many old-west styled towns out there ^^;. Anybody notice that those seem to be the only types of towns the group runs into in the U.S ^^; ?
4- Choco's joke/pun... Not even funny in Japanese! It didn't even rhyme or sound similar this time.
moving on...
Pino and his group make their first apperance! These guys seem kind of popular in fandom. Though... they don't show up much besides this and the next episodes. I guess people just think they are cool?
Ren's rivalry with Yoh comes up again. It's not been mentioned for a loooong time really, but yeah, Ren still feels that he needs to surpass Yoh. Of course, Hao tries to use this to his advantage...
Manta's new role! sort of. What I mean is, that before, Manta was the "newbie" character, learning and freaking out about things. Kind of starting at this episode, Manta shows that he's grown up a bit and he starts becoming the groups conscience, reason, and logic. Sure, Manta was always logical before, but now he's more assertive about it and he freaks out about things less. Since Manta's my favorite character, I enjoy seeing his character development ^_^ .
...Yet... Hao still says unintentionally mean things to the poor lil' guy ^^;.
"The Niles" the egyptian shamans in this episode, are sort of a combination between tragic and retardation. I mean... it's sad, and they had a few points here and there but... at a certain point... JUST GIVE UP! *shivers*
Zen and Ryo make an apperance again. Poor guys....
X-laws sort of show there "fundamentilist" attitude by fighting with the Niles. No other gods and all....
Yoh makes a pretty speach before he calls out to Lyserg. It was just nice. (It's the speach saying he was willing to let Lyserg do what he wanted because he didn't really know his pain. But...) Then when he DOES call out to Lyserg. *siiiigh* It's a powerfull moment.
I wonder if the feathers will have the same effect in the dub...
Lyserg... understandable that you would blame Morphine but... that wasn't really nice ^^; . Poor Morphine...
The abuse begins.... This will be cut... this will have to be cut, I can't imagine this NOT being cut. Two instances of Lys abuse--
1- Marco THROWS the Iron maiden at Lyserg! This is the "odd" moment I was talking about. It's just a shock to see it the first time. Later it becomes a "well that was mean..." and if you think about it too much it becomes slightly humerous. I mean, I wonder if Jeanne noticed the impact ^^; .
2- Marco PUNCHES Lyserg.
Iron Maiden Jeanne! Covered in thorns! Bleeding! The Iron maiden itself crying tears of BLOOD. Yeah.... This is gonna be edited ^^;.... This show is so not appropriate for childrens t.v anymore ^^;;...
Iron Maiden Jeannes "bondage" outfit. It's pretty but... kind of weird ^^;.
The Niles... they DIE. I wonder if 4kids is going to change this somehow... One would think, since they don't like that kind of thing.
Shamash= Mash. Shamash is the name of a Babylonian god. It's also the name of a fairly large Jewish website 0_o . Why? I do not know... I kind of think the Jewish connection is why the name is being changed.***
Woo! Lots of notes. Hey the episode creeps me out but... It's still a great episode. Lots of luck dub watchers ^_~ .
