Oh man, I also kept thinking of the snail whenever the mask head guy spoke. XD It was bizarre. All of a sudden Lyserg just gets beaned by The Iron Maiden. It almost looked like Jeanne somehow flew at Lyserg. I thought that was funny, or at least...interesting. I was like, "Huh? Did she just maul Lyserg? " But XD Jeanne: GRR! *hurls self at Lyserg* Lyserg: TOOF! O3O Anyway, Shamash reminded me of baby Spirit of Fire, but it was scary looking. And what it said was "In the name of peeaace..." Oh, and in the dub the dialouge between the brothers and Anna went kind of like this: Brother: *says something* Bald Brother: You can say that again. Brother: *begins to repeat* Anna: Shut up. Brother: T__T

I thought this episode is pretty good. I love it when Horo Horo asked ren if he is going to the little boys room! I thought ren will just diss him back cause I didn't know he would actually take that "insult"
Is it just me, or did Marco called Jeane Jean? it sound that way.
I can't believe they didn't edit the blood tears! I was really surprise. And they actually Lyserg being throw to the ground by marco's slap.
It looks like the Irom Maiden just pushed herself to Lyserg... did Marco pushed it?
It also looked like Marco is rolling the Iron Maiden... seriously, it looks like the Iron Maidens have weels under her that make her moveable!!!!
I hate the voice actors for 'The Niles' really. It sounds so... weird
Anyways, a good episode.

Okay, this episode was so frickin creepy! Escargoon's voice as the Niles guy was annoying me. Hao, stop being mean to Manta! Were they going to execute ZenRyo? It seemed to me like they were... I like Egyptian lore, but those guys were just lame! "Immortal Class" XD I thought it was hilarious when Lyserg got clobbered by the Iron Maiden. No blood edits, yay! Oh God, Jeanne scares the crap outta me. When she was floating out of the Iron Miaden and those vines were falling off of her.... *shudders* Shamash looks like a poessed kewpie doll. Scary, scary pair. And the way she went about killing the Egypt dudes was unnerving. Such abuse! Lyserg needs to rethink the X-Law deal. This episode disturbed me, but I loved it! I'm going to go to sleep with the lights on tonight. Iron Maiden Jeanne and Shamah might get me.

I've always wondered why Jeanne drops screws....0_o It's just...weird in my opinion... Hmm I believe that those screws are where she does her oversoul, in this case she has 2 screws for 2 chairs for the 2 remaining Egyptian guys. Ok, I have a question, at one point, snail-voice says something like: "It feels like there's electricity runing through my body." It's not like this in the original is it? Oh and, do we see them die in the original?

Does anyone else see a bit of a plot hole here?
Jeane puts herself into the Iron Maiden becuase of all the evil in the world. Thats reasonable, however how does this then result in Hao must die?
He's not the cause of humanitys general evilness, in fact hes doing his best to get rid of them. In which case Jeane should perhaps be working alongside Hao? Either that or shes unfairly singled him out when she should be dealing with other things aswell.
Something doesn't quite fit, which I assume is a problem caused by the dub.

Hmmm you see, Hao wants to rid the world of all humans, not of all evil, wanting to kill all humans makes him evil and the fact that he's very powerful makes him an important target. Now there is a connection between Hao's philosophies and the X-laws' since they are in the extremes, to Hao, for the world to be pure, to be good, it must be only shaman, and to the X-laws, for the world to be pure, people must obey "their" every belief, never question it, and follow it exacly without any "mistakes" or "sins". Now in what you said, no Hao is not the only Evil thing, but killing all humans is wrong, and a person with the power to do so is very important to the X-laws, very dangerous to their own mission. As for them, no they don't want to kill all humans, they just want them to subit, to their every will. * Ok, I'm not shure if they mentionned this yet but all of the people in the X-laws have lost someone because of Hao, Now if he were to become shaman king, they would have to follow him. Hence, the main objective for the X-laws is that Jeanne become Shaman King, and Hao is Evil, and he's also their greatest threat.* They can Never work toghether this I am shure of, but for the rest, it's just what I think.

*Off topic* I really get the urge to kill my mother at times.
I tell her EVERY Sunday, "Please don't bother me from 11:30-12:00pm. I'm working on something for my website."
And what does she do? She chooses that time to bug me EVERY SUNDAY. Yeah, as much JOY as it is to watch the episode a couple of times every week, I don't want to re-watch certain parts yet ANOTHER time. Grrrrrrr....
Now I think she's mad at me because I yelled at her >_< .
**********
Back on topic. Yeah, this episode was handled pretty well considering that they had to cut out references to God and killing. The basic theme sort of still carried through. For some reason though, the dub cut out a few things about Jeanne (dialoug) and added a joke or two instead 0_o. Important points that is implied, but also stated by the characters originally. 1- Jeanne is hurting herself on purpose 2- Her wounds healed imediately, that being one of her powers.
Finally, I'm surprised they left the Marco punch in. Well, nothing else for me to mention that hasn't already been said.

As for them, no they don't want to kill all humans, they just want them to subit, to their every will. They can Never work toghether this I am shure of, but for the rest, it's just what I think. I've been thinking on this and I think Jeanne and Hao have two basic things in common. Firstly they dislike the world as it is currently, Hao may not think Humans are Evil but they are bad for the world and so must go. Jeanne is more along the lines of removing the evil from the hearts of mankind, (by following her rules of course) Crucially I think the second point and the reason they could never work to solve the problem of humanity is the fact they both wish to be Shaman King. Being Shaman King lets them accomplish thier goals but also means they effectively rule the world. If we look at the situation from the ruling the world angle you can see that Jeannes only real rival is Hao. The fact he wants to kill all humans just helps justify her actions to others. Spoiler ** You mentioning the X-laws all having someone killed by Hao further convinces me Jeanne just wants Hao out of the way.
If she truely had a Grand vision for the world the X-Laws would be made up of many Shamans, not just a group that hates Hao above all else. Its a group custom made for just one purpose, not a group for saving humanity as she claims.
Hao's probably no different, he just doesn't feel Jeanne is a big enough threat to him to immediately kill off. After all I believe in the Gate of Babaylon episode he merely said their new power could be a problem. If he really felt threatened he would of acted then and there.**

After all I believe in the Gate of Babaylon episode he merely said their new power could be a problem. If he really felt threatened he would of acted then and there.** Hmmm I'm not so shure that Jeanne is using Hao as an excuse, a way to get people to follow her, she does try to recruit Yoh, ( even though no one close to him was killed by hao... ) and there is the fact that: it's all a religious thing, just look at the name, X-Laws, x=10 laws= the law of course, so there is a big reference to the 10 comandments. She has taken it upon herself to suffer for the world, in exchange get the strenght to save it. If this turns out to be a scam, I would be very surprised. I believe that she wants to do what she says, rid the world of evil, Hao is the greatest evil... (because he has seen the world suffer too much and he simply went mad) He disobeys their ideals and wants to make a world they don't believe in.Brainwashing, manipulating, whatever the mean, from an objective point of view we can see how they are very similar, but in their minds, they're worlds apart. You see when the X-Laws kill, it's ok ( : because it's a sacrifice that was in the name of good, it was standing in their way and had to be eliminated. Hao kind of sees himself the same way, everything he says is right so anyone who goes against him is wrong... right? As for the threat, I think Hao is amused by the X-Laws and doesn't really view anyone as a real threat. Oh and finally, don't forget, there could be many factors as to why there aren't MANY shaman with Jeanne like: She din't start a long time ago, opposed to Hao that started when he was very young, she has... strict minimum that the people who follow need to have (submission, strenght, they must be good by their view, they must believe and folow Jeanne... whatever the situation...) All of these reasons could explain why the X-laws are not very high in numbers...whoo~ Well, that's what I think.

It just looked like Lyserg was thrown to the floor, but the slap wasn't shown, was it? Poor Lyserg, I imagine when Marco means they'll talk later, it will mean more of a beating. Cults are not famous for being merciful to people who disobey orders. The Temptation of Ren: I believe that had Hao approached Ren earlier, before Yoh healed his angry heart, Hao would have had a wonderful henchman and servant. Then again, I'm glad Ren is on Yoh's side! I did like Jeane's voice, it sounded so beautiful and spiritual, almost hypnotic. Also, not sure if this is relevant but since I am currently a religion major, Shamash is Hebrew for caretaker or servant. It is a candle that lights all the other candles on the candleabra. So to me, it was a cute pun. I'll rewatch the episode tommorow, and have more intelligent comments to say later.

So...what to say...
That one Nile guy's voice irked me. It sounded like he was trying to sing but failing miserably.
Yeah, I though Jeanne punched Lyserg (though that case doesn't have arms...). And later, when she's just lying there on the ground I'm like, "...Why hasn't she gotten up already?"
Joco's visuals completely didn't make sense...
All the Egypt stuff brought back bad memories of horribly-dubbed YuGiOh...
I saw the blood on Jeanne's face but I didn't know what it was. I though she was broken XD
We need more Hao screentime. Full-frontal. With a clear view of his pants in their starry glory.
I saw Porf! XD
Ugh, I missed bits of this eppie because I had my brother record it for me as I was not home. The problem was that whenever there's a part he thinks is lame/stupid/monotonous, he stops the tape. -_-;; So there were small chunks missing. Ah well.

Thank you! thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I was thinking the word could be Hebrew, but I just didn't know what it meant ;_; ! Thank you for posting this! The Hebrew meaning is probably why the name got slightly changed. Though... the critter is probably named after the sun(I think) God of Babylon. BUT! Apparently "The Gate of Babylon" doesn't exist in the manga sooo... who knows? (I'm kind of babbling myself now ^^; ...)

Wow, I got thanked by Lovely-sama! My day has just been made! Well, since you are curious, I will put into use the limited Hebrew that I know. The word “Shemesh” means sun in Hebrew, but due to the unique way that Hebrew is written, the words are homonyms . (If you put the vowels a different way, it means “use” but I’ll stop punning in Hebrew now). It's possible that it is a pun in Hebrew, Shaman King is a well-researched story. Is there a sun god of Babylon called Shamesh? Babylon and Ancient Israel have many things in common, but I never heard of him. You would most likely know better then me. I looked up and only found that Shamash is an ancient Babylonian king, but please inform me if I am wrong. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamash-shum-ukin I hope I don’t sound pretentious, I just enjoy researching things.

To be honest, I just googled "Shamash" and I found various things ^^; (including the large Jewish website.) A few sites listed him as a god worshiped in Babylon soo... Um, for example, this small entry on an encyclopedia site. I've had to look up and research so many things for these comparisons ^^;. Shaman King makes a lot of references to just about everything ^^:....
