The title isn't really a spoiler since Gei Yin (geiin, Ginny/Jenny in the dub) shows up in the very first scene.
Well... this is a Ren centric episode. Ah... woot! Ren fans will love it I'm sure .
O.k, honestly, nothing much happens in this episode ^^;. Basically you get to see how SOME Shaman Fights are set up (don't get to see the "offical stadium" yet though.)
And Ren gets a BIT of development (not much really ^^;.)
Spoiilers but... pretty much EVERYTHING in here won't be a spoiler for the dub, because the way the dub has been written, these things will be changed anyways....
***
*The Patch offical who announces the match at the veeeeeery begining of the episode had a cool voice.
*A few group names are stated this episode.
-The "Tsukigumi" ("Moon Group") are some of Hao's allies. Their team includes "Bill" the football guy.
More importantly....
*Yoh's team is named "Funbari Hotsprings" (Funbari Onsen.) They were named by Anna and the name is basically an advertisment for the hotspring resort that Anna wants to make back in Japan ^^; (the house they lived in was in Funbari.)
Since the dub removed all references to Anna's ambitions, and even the name of the town that the series started in... well, this little gag is sure to be removed. Which is a shame, because when it comes up again, it becomes even MORE obvious that there name is a sort of advertisment ^^; .
*Ren's Team is called "Team the Ren" ("Team da Ren"), Ph34r Ren's awesome English skillz.
*Ryu kind of... babbles about "Charisma" in this episode. His whole little speach kind of comes out of nowhere ^^; .
Oh, by the way, the whole "QUESTION!", "ANSWER!" thing that Ryu and Ren do is sort of parody/reference to Japanese game shows.
* Ren makes obvious his rivalry between himself and Yoh is still in effect in this episode (this probably won't be cut, maybe they'll even make it more obvious .)
*The whole point of this episode Concern that Ren pretty much broke his family ties. In the end, he feels slightly guilty about abandoning his family and he decides to sort of fight for their honor again. Now, in the dub, he never claimed to stop fighting for his family's honor, in fact, in the dub, he has ALLWAYS been fighting for thier sake. Hm. well, who knows what the dub will do *shrugs*.
*The whole 28 with out a Boy friend thing is cute. Gei Yin looked cute when flustered XD .
*The smile Ren has on his face when he passes out at the very end is VERY cute.
****
Finally, one of Ren's image songs played at the end of this episode. It's a really awesome song, it picked up a rather average episode.
