Hrm. They left out the explosion, but kept in the giant crater that resulted from it.

It wasn't unedited, but I was definately amazed that they kept in Chopper's broken leg, the poison mushroom, and Dalton's suicide, even if they took out the explosion.
Not the same without Ave Maria music in the background though.

Not the same without Ave Maria music in the background though. Tell me about it. To me, it's the music that really reinforces the emotional punch to this episode. (Or rather, EVERY episode for that matter.)

Y'know, If you've got the space, you should download a batch from Kaizoku Fansubs (ep. 81-90 feature the appearance of Chopper, and 4krap showed #85 this morning, and NON-merged! who would have thought?) Then make your brother watch 'em, see if he still likes Dub Piece after that! i'M STILL TRYING TO GET SHAMAN KING ONES! XD;
But yeah,I might.I showed the clips of Chopper that Cosmic posted a LONG time ago and he liked them.The boy is messed up.Runs in the family XD;.
I saw about half of it I think today.And Tonfa's right.Dr.H's death did get screwed up.OH WHAT A SUPPRISE!
I'm so werid for pointing this out but I kinda liked the bat chairs that Kureha had when they showed Nami,Sanji and her. XD;;;;

Yes they did leave the suicide in, I'm impressed, but they took out the parts that made it so emotional.
For starters would be Hiruluks speach. Some might not care, but it just wasn't as impacting as his original. He showed Wapol that he wasn't self-absorbed, he didn't care about himself, he was just happy that no one else was in danger.
And without that background music, god that just took away so much as well.

Yes, the mushroom part, and the suicide was left in the episode, hooray! But why'd they edit out the explosion but leave the crater and the smoking hat? Now kids are going to think that if they drink a something, they're going to get swallowed up by a Wind Tunnel (see the InuYasha episode Miroku Falls into A Dangerous Trap to know what in the heck I'm talking about).
Nethertheless, I'm glad they didn't butcher it to make it seem as though the doctor was captured and thrown into a dungeon somewhere.

Found something intresting in my new Shonen Jump...
Theres a little article in between the One Piece chapters which talks about upcoming expansions to the card game and one of the cards thats shown on the page is titled "Endless Duel."
Well the card has on it the two fighting giants Dorry and Brogy from the Little Garden arc, and if you look closely, they're names are clearly written on the card. (Although changed a little bit to "Doogle" and "Bloogle".....o_0;)
So by the looks of things, this is more reasoning that 4kids is gonna HAVE TO acknowledge the existance of Little Garden....
EDIT: Mispelled Dorry's name, sorry!

I heard about that...although I can't for the life of me figure out why they would change perfectly good names "Dorry and Broggy" into something as stupid as "Doogie and Bloogie". What kind of morons are they? Don't know how they'll explain Little Garden, although they really should because the situation with Dorry and Broggy comes back up later in the series.

Today is a sad day indeed. A day we lose all hopes for VIZ as a good respectable, company and come to think, "why KAHN!" over and over again. From ANN: One Piece at Viz (2005-10-27 17:08:05) Originally solicited for a September release by Toei, One Piece will now be released on DVD by Viz Media under the Shonen Jump Home Video line. The first DVD will street on February 28th and will only have the English dub.
Sob, sob. Why VIZ? You practically promised us an uncut release with your great Naruto and Zatch Bell (kinda great) dub and your new Shonen Jump Home Video thingie. We can only hope it's a re-dub that's even a little better than the 4kids dub or else I'm afraid VIZ will go bankrupt. Do they seriously think this will sell? I used to have a greater respect for VIZ than Funimation (mostly cause of DBZ) but they just crossed the line! Congrats Gen Fukunaga you are now my fourth favorite dubbing company! (1-3 being: Disney (1, their movie dubs anyway), ADV (2), and Geneon (3)) We can only hope 4kids still has that deal with Madman Ent. and will follow through with uncuts... someday (or perhaps ANN made a mistake and these are those very uncuts promised)

Eh, you're surprised? There is a silver lining, though, because it's a step in the possibility for an uncut release, like Naruto. No, there's no way they'd just redub an English sub, that's ridiculous, so don't expect that. Like I've said before, instead of focusing on 4Kids, everyone should write to Viz Media and beg for uncut releases. I have done so already. When I heard about the Shonen Jump Home Video imprint, I really hoped they would be smart enough to do an uncut release. They will be sorely missing an opportunity if they don't.

But isn't it entirely up to 4kids wether an uncut release comes into existance though?
The way I see it, unless 4kids gives Viz the rights to the show (not likely gonna happen) or Viz manages to get the rights to do they're own uncut dub (ultra-slim to none chance) from 4kids, then Viz will always be stuck with the piece-o-shit dub. And considering how well Naruto has been done, I would think that Viz has respect for the audience, so it would be in their best intrest to do a good job with One Piece (and I think they would know that too!)
Shoot me if you like, but I really don't think Viz is the one at fault here...
