(Oh and Throes, contrary to something you said in another thread, apparently 4kids DOES show reruns of their shows, ANN listed Winx Club and GI Joe as reruns) I guess what I meant to say was that they don't show full series re-runs. And Sanji, the prayers you have are those of many One Piece fans. Including me.

More than likely, if they cancel One Piece they'll just sit on it until the license runs out, and it's unlikely anyone else would be interested in it then...

More than likely, if they cancel One Piece they'll just sit on it until the license runs out, and it's unlikely anyone else would be interested in it then... Best case scenario: 4kids drops the licence early, due to extremely poor ratings. Funimation picks up the license, and re-dubs the show with all new VAs, maybe they keep Marc Diraison as Zoro, he's pretty good. 4kids decides to never licence another anime, and goes bankrupt after a few more years from producing their own shows (finally...). And all of their former licences are picked up by Funi or Viz, preferably Funi. Second best case: replace Funimation with Viz Worst case: The shows are on temoprary leave due to the massive editing yet to come. But in all cases, I'm sure that they will drop their licence, I think it's cheaper, I don't know, but I do know that if they do decide to drop the shows temporarily, they'll keep on the low-down about it so as to prevent public knowledge, and the chance for other companies to take over projects.

From what we are speculating....

Um...You don't really "drop" licences. They are ussually pre-payed for a couple of years ^^;. "Dropping" a liscence has no monetary value to the dropping company. You CAN "sub liscence" things though. But this is not often done simply because the company who liscenced the show has to clear the sub licence with Japan (and the Japanese are kind of hard to work with, especially when it comes to re-negotiating contracts. and especially when it's Toei .) Like Lagowe said, they will probably "sit on the liscence." That simply means that even though 4kids still has the liscence to air/distribute the show, they probably won't. (I can't spell~ ....)

Well I stopped celebrating, I'm just going to have to wait three weeks.

Well, even if they do just sit on the licence, they won't dub another episode. That's a victory in itself! So, until we know for sure that the 4kids lineup dropped Dub Piece, which means waiting a few weeks, we can hope for David Moo's voice to rape Sanji's character no longer.

First of all, let's all wait and see what the official word is. The show might just be on hiatus, not canceled.
Lovely is right, it's not like 4kids is just going to drop the show and someone else will just grab it and go. It cost 4kids A LOT of money to purchase the license...They were the willing to put up more money than anyone else was, and that's why they got it. Someone would most likely have to pay MORE to buy out 4kids...and the funny thing is that apparently 4Kids balked at the cost of purchasing the music rights, so there's even more money another company would have to fork up some dough for. Who in their right mind would put up all that money for a show that failed in ratings? One thing One Piece does still have going for it though, it its immense popularity in Japan. Hopefully someone will see it as 4Kids' goofs and not so much the inability to market One Piece in America.

They were also willing to put up the money to liscense Naruto, and look who got the show in the end. Maybe, but then again, when has 4kids EVER used the original music for their shows? And the way I see it, becuase of the existance of a dubbed version "We Are", I'm assuming that that 4kids had the ability to or already had some music rights. It was just thier decision to replace it with a god-awful rap and unfitting BGM. To compare 4kids to another company, Geneon didn't seem to have a problem when it came to keeping the score to (the decently dubbed) Viewtiful Joe, they even kept the opening theme. And from my understanding, Geneon is a smaller company than 4kids. FUNimation? Seriously though, they were trying to get One Piece for a very long time. And after the long rights battle, well, thats where the tragic story of One Piece begins. I garuntee you though that if FUNi were to pick up the liscence for the show right now, they could easily re-introduce it for Toonami or Adult Swim. And I believe that it would succeed since the majority (if not, all) of the fanbase here in North America knows about how poorly 4kids treated the show, or is at least aware of significant edits done by 4kids (Chances are, they've stopped watching Dub Piece a little past the Arlong arc). And from that revived fanbase, comes the chance of new people being introduced to the show, or dubbies getting to their favorite show in its original form, therefore increasing the fanbase and the reputation of One Piece. Once again, extremely good possibility. Many anime companies have expressed how thier dissatisfied with the way 4kids handles anime. Even voice actors like Dan Green have said that they don't like the way 4kids dubs because it makes the show sound terrible, and Sean Akins expresses in an interview, "The big guys can't seem to deal with anime correctly."So if there is the small chance that 4kids definently drops the One Piece liscense, I'm absolutely certain that the show will make an outstanding comeback.

If FUNimation were to pick up the show, they'd be smart to put it back on the Toonami block. They can also say it's one of their "DBZ-quality uncut" versions. (DBZ has had somewhere between 2 and 3 uncut versions I think...) Funimation could also have some fun and try to compete with Viz for ratings. Of course, if they did release a good version of the show, then we wouldn't see immediate results like we did with Naruto, considering, quite a few people will think it's still the badly dubbed version. But if FUNimation does decide to re-do the show, they should hire new voice actors.

Goodness, 4Kids license lasts till 2009. ...That's a long ass wait if its really cancelled. www.4kidsentertainmentinc.com/docs/report2004.pdfAnd if that happens (OP being dropped), the chances of Toei letting someone else take over is if-fy. I've also heard that Dub Piece has been successful in other countries...

It also says that Shaman King is licenced until 2010. But hopefully by then, they will have gone bankrupt, and their deals with the Japanese companies will have ended, causing an early licence removal.

Why am I just now finding/seeing this. And doG, its embarrassing as Hell... This is a reflection of what Japanese (as in these people live in Japan) fans think of the One Piece dub. X| img263.imageshack.us/img263/849/11307704038808sz.jpgHere's what the text says (translation provided by Toonzone's Dogasu [yes, that one!]): Translations! They should be *mostly* accurate, but there may be some nuances that I didn't quite pick up on: Smoker Panel (Top Right): [米国版] "The Western Version of One Piece" アメリカで始まった英語版 ワンピース! いろんな 事が変更されてます. The English version of One Piece has started! Various changes have been made. たとえば, タバコが飴に なっていたり. For example, tabacco products have become candy and things like that. -->スモーカー大佐の名前を 予想してみました. が, はずれました. 英語版の彼の名前は... --> We tried to anticipate Captain Smoker's (changed) name. However, this isn't official. His name in the English version will be... とにかくひどいです. 詳しくは, ミニコラム を... In any case, it's terrible. Particularly, in this mini-column... Sanji Panel (Top Left): あぁ悲しきゃー 国もかわれば サンジもかわる It's sad... If the country changes, Sanji changes as well. Sanji / Luffy / Zoro / Usopp Panel: Text above the picture: [ルサン?] 英語の掲示板に書いてあったコメディーを絵をしてみました. This is a picture we tried to do for an comedy on an English-language bulletin board. Text on the picture: ギャハハハ Sanji: "My jig..." Usopp: "Gya ha ha ha!" Underneath the above picture (beside the picture of Nami and Robin): [ポスター] ロビンとナミです. はじめはビクトリア風 にしたかったんだけど, なぜか和服になりました. "Poster" This is Robin and Nami. At first [the picture] was done in a Victorian style. Why are they wearing Japanese-style clothing? ロビン, たからずかの男役みたい かな Robin looks like a Takurazuka, doesn't she??? -->サンジのポスターコレクション の1枚です. あはは... --> Sanji's one-poster collection. Ah-ha-ha...
