;D Hello Im new on these boards. I think that SHAMAN KING IS AWSEOME though. I read the Manga and watch the dub, and really, really, really (....uh...really...) want to see uncut versions of it. After reading all the posts in this thread and all the articles, I understand a lot more. I'm still a little confused about the DVD's though. so let me get this straight: -2 uncut shaman king dvd's each containing 3 episodes -about 20 bucks each -will be in japanese with english subs (is that right?) -will also include the dub?!? (is that right?) sorry, im a little slow at figuring this all out but I just want to know exactly whats in the dvd's ( of course I already plan to buy them )

The price isn't all that bad if you buy 'em online. (also, Best Buy tends to sell DVD's at bellow the MSRP as well.) Also, while the dub included with the dvd's uses the same actors as the english TV dub, the script is re-written and much closer to the original script. However, for some reason the new dub STILL has the characters use their english t.v dub names 0_o .

its not that confusing
all the american toys (and upcoming video game) use the dub names, plus a good chunk of the dvd buyers will be people who watched it on foxbox, no one will complain when the dub script is better but some might change if the names are changed
so the sub scripts have the actors hardcore fans would want, and the dub has the names that the 'kids' recognize

Okay... this is hard...
I'm trying to convince myself to read the review so I can get a taste of what's coming... and I'm trying to convince myself NOT to so the surprise isn't ruined, but...
GAH IT'S TOO HARD ><
EDIT: Okay... it's not working for me. Can someone post the review?

Erm... just click on the link I posted earlier 0_o . And the review doesn't actually talk about the show itself all that much. It mostly talks about the technical details of the disks themselves. So you can click on the link without fear.

Well, I'm glad the discs won't turn out to be Dragonball Z DVDs with Shaman King episodes on them (by that I mean, not lacking eyecatches, OPs, EDs, and having an awful dub). I hope the same applies to the Yugioh DVDs.

So, the subtitles on the uncut Shaman King DVDs are dubtitles but with the Japanese names? That's kind of strange, but I'm not too upset about it. As long as the new uncut English dub is more accurate than the TV version, I don't care as I won't be watching the new English dub at all, anyway. Either way I watch Shaman King it'll be inaccurate. Fansubs aren't proffessional translators, so they're bound to make mistakes sometimes; 4Kids likes to make their own stuff up as they go along, so they're definetly far from perfect; and this new uncut English dub is supposed to be more accurate to the original expcet for the names.
As long as there's no complaints about the new English dub in terms of accuracy, then it doesn't matter much. I'm more concerned if all the visual content has been left in-tact. There's one thing I'm wondering about, though. Is the uncut English Shaman King dub still refering to Ren as "Lenny"? Wasn't "Lenny" his nickname in the English edited version? So, do they still call him "Lenny" in the uncut English dub?

I dont know if i should buy the DvD's 1 at a time or wait till the box set comes out, if it comes out. I guess they will only continue releasing uncut DvD's if the ones they have released sell well.

I already got them and I have some bad news.
The sub uses dubtitles, STUPID 4KIDS. Ugh... they did this on Yugioh too -_-
Dammit, 4Kids better give us the option to send in DVDs for replacement DVDs...
