According to Anime On DVD.com. Funimation announced at A-kon this weekend that they WILL be releasing an uncut release of Shaman King! WOOOT!!!! The announcement can currently be read up on AoD's main page. QUOTEFunimation also then announced an uncut Shaman King release, which they got through 4Kids. Oct 19. There will be a dub and sub, though the dub will still have the Saturday morning names. *snip* Two volumes will be coming out for both Shaman King and Yu-gi-oh (also subbed and uncut), and pricing may be estimated at around 3 episodes at $19.98. The release schedule is dependant on sales. The episode count sucks though :/ . That's around 21 DVD's when it finshes @_@ . Geez...

That's excellent news! But 3 episodes per DVD? I hate it when companies do that...

Is that $20 US or CDN? If its CDN then I guess its not too bad... Viz DVDs consist of 3 eps most of the time and price at $40 CDN. I'll have to save up...

I just have to ask the last episode, 64, will it be in a whole other dvd...or will dvd 21 hav four episodes or something? Also does this mean that it is in japanese or english, because it says they will be subbed (that means they'll add subtitles right?)

Subbed and dub track will be on the DVDs from what it says. Subbed being Japanese voice track with english subtitles.
Your question about the last episode, I'm going to assume the first DVD will have an extra episode. That's normally how I see DVDs done now a days. 1st DVD has X episodes, the rest have X-1 episodes.

What I'm wondering is, are they gonna keep the edits in [ex: digital undies, erasing the japanese off of signs], or are they leave it the way it was intended to be? When you say 'uncut', I really hope you mean UNCUT. :P
Edit: Whoo! 100th post! I'm a Full Fledged Shaman! xD

According to animenation.com the english dub will re-recorded for the uncut release with new dialogue from the uncut scripts. The same actors will be used and the same character names for the release. To be frank, It's still a disapointment to me. Some of the english VA's for Shaman King are REALLY miscast. And if they plan to make the dub more acurate, why the HECK are they still going to be using the dub names? Tch. It's just annoying. I want a cuter voice for Manta ;_; ! (Not to say his dub voice isn't a good actor, but it's just not cute enough for the character :/ .) Well, at the least, I hope they drop the bad accents in the new dub. On the other hand, I'm surprised they'll be recording it at all. I full expected them to use the dub they used for t.v (considering that technically, not a lot of time was cut). Still the fact that they are doing this in a sort of half way is annoying v_v .

I wonder what they'll end up doing for the background music.
I had a Japanese roommate in college who was a huge fan of GTO...he had these terrible quality VHS tapes that he taped himself when he was living in Japan.
The DVD release finally hit the US and I was like, "Sweet. I can get him a better format."
Turned out even though it was uncut they ended up dropping some music and adding some sound effects. The one I specifically remember was the biker gang in the first episode. In the original they have a theme playing behind them. In the American release they have...sirens?
Makes you wonder which background tracks will be used for Shaman King.

Every once in a while, the company in the U.S can't get the rights to a specific song from the Japanese version. My guess is that is what happened there.
Now, concerning music for the "almost unedited" dub, I'm actually a bit excited about it. Funimation is known for keeping the original soundtracks in thier DVD releases. Not only that, but they are known for actually redubing/translating the songs . I'll actually be pretty excited to hear an english version of "Oversoul", "Brave Heart" "Trust You" and other mankin songs that occur in the show. (I'm not sure if they'll actually do this though, but it would be pretty cool, right?)
