Here is my opinion on the dub voices for Shaman King.
*Yoh's voice sounds a little too "old" for him, but it isn't the worst voice.
*Anna's sounds too "girly". She needs a more stern, serious, but calm voice.
*Morty's sounds like a "Sherman", but he should sound like a precocious 2nd grader.
*I imagined Horohoro's voice being like Rolfe of Ed, Edd, and Eddy, but he doesn't sound too different from Yoh. I don't know if this is a good thing or not.
*Rio's Spanish-voice is okay, even when knowing he is actually Japanese. Ebonics and Southern drawls are often used to pick out Osaka-ben people in English dubs, but IIRC, he's not from Osaka.
Again, I prefer Viz's take on Shaman King over 4Kids.

Yeah, a little. It does take some time to get used to it.

I think Tara Jayne's voice fits Anna pretty well. I can't think of any other 4kids voice actress that would be able to pull her off without sounding weird.

Yoh and HoroHoro don't really sound alike to me. HoroHoro's voice is a little deeper, softer, all while hitting unknown notes on the scale at the same time. I like it. ^_^ Then again, I practically worship HoroHoro (and Michael Sinterniklaas! *snuggle*), so... >_>;

I do think that Ryu's voice would be better suited for anyone who has an Osaka-ben accent in the original Japanese. I imagined the voices by reading the manga before watching the anime. I personally think the only time you should ever give a character an accent in an English dub of an anime is if they had an accent in the original. While I despise Ryu's English voice, it could've been worse. We could've been stuck with an Elvis Presley-type of voice since he sort of looks like Elvis to me in a way. ^^;; |

im SO glad ryu isn't an elvis impersonator. and his english va is by far the worst yet likeable one i know of.

Actually, I too am glad that they didn't give Ryu an Elvis voice *shudders*. Nothing against Elvis, but his impersonators grate on the nerves.
Eh, for more thoughts on my opinions on the VA's just look through the comparisons .

I have no problems with the dub voices so far. They seem to fit the characters rather well to me. Especially Trey and Rio. Trey has the exact wild sounding voice that fits his character. And Rio, well maybe it's his script, but the totally in love with himself and his hair. When he spazzes out it his hilarious.
Don't even get me started on his songs.

eh,I have no problem with the dubbed voices.I wanted to date teh guy who did yoh's voice,but when I saw a picture of him I said "HOLY CRAP!"because he was sooooooooooo oogly (ugly).But I think he does really good on yoh's voice.And I didn't see a picture of what teh guy who does trey's voice,but I agree with trey and his clone,it does suit trey very well.And Zeke is done by the same guy as yoh is so I dun't have a problem with his voice either.
