Heck yeah! The wheel that likes carnage! I made that mention this morning...I was like, good, they found a replacement for the jack-in-the-box...although the wheel isn't as cool as the sock on Kids WB...
Common day items around your house CAN be spokesmen for Saturday morning television blocks...
I thought Jocko's voice fit perfectly...I was worried it would be a high-pitched voice like the one used for Static Shock...
Aren't the kids older in the NA dub then they are in the original? Add that to the fact that they've aged physically since their ages were given in the beginning.
I pegged Jocko at 16...he looks like a 16 year old and he sounds like one...his speech pattern sounds normal for an urban kid...it wasn't over the top gangsta...it was urban.
Regardless, I've got a nephew that's 14 right now that has a deeper voice than Jocko's.

Lyserg looks like hes drugged in his scene.. That's 'cuz he is drugged... you see, it's the drugs that marco uses to keep him brainwashed... chaos: **sigh** but it looked like marco was becomming a pedofile. Yes, yes he is... many of us don't have anything to compare Chocolove's dubbed voice to...maybe you could throw us a bone and post a clip somehow? Chocolove has the same Japanese voice as Li Syaoran from Cardcaptor Sakura, and I believe there are sites with Japanese CCS clips. Here's a bigger list of Motoko Kumai's work, if you're interested. She also may have voice clips on her website. RE: 'Joco's' VoiceWell, I watched the credits, and the only people listed who were not already connected with a character on ANN are Matthew George, Nappy, Ed Paul, and Anthony Salerno. Matthew George is not listed in ANN's database at all, so I don't know what his voice sounds like. Nappy is listed as also doing a voice on Sonic X, but not who. Ed Paul is listed as doing many voices, but his voice, I think, is too low even for 'Joco's' voice (he does the President on Sonic X, Giovanni on Pokemon, and King Dedede on Kirby). Anthony Salerno is the voice director for SK, and does a lot of directing/supervision for dubs, but not a lot of voice-work, so I can't place his voice, either. My opinion on the voice is that it's not appropriate for the character. Part of it is the fact that it is too low of a voice for him, but I think that it's not so much the depth of the voice, but that the voice just sounds too serious. I think a higher-pitched voice (even if just slightly), would make him sound more like a jokester. RE: FaustFaust is a cool character in SK... but in that episode... Sheesh... that just makes him sound like a pathetic loser... General ThoughtsThis is actually one of the few episodes that I have NOT seen in Japanese ((the other that I know of involves Hao beating some random team up in the 50s somewhere)). However, while it is understandable that the jokes would have to be changed (the 'a dress' joke worked quite well), when they change it to something that has nothing to do with the visual cues, it doesn't work. To LovelyI just realized that, if you want, I could get you screencaptures from the dub... they might not be the best quality (it would involve my digital camera), but if you wanted some in particular, I could get them for you (from here on out, so we'd have to wait for a replay of previous episodes). |

*is too lazy to do the quote thing* yea, I got the names somewhat wrong, but the guy had an accent in spanish! half of the time I didnt understand him..o_0, I may know spanish...but I suck at it....ahem, moving on~ Now that it's like 6 here and my sister hasnt awoken, I can go more in depth (whatever that may come to...) Faust voice...man, I swear, the fact that he does sound like Michael Jackson and the fact he was holding Manta like that...is just disturbing..if you know what I mean... Lovely often mentioned Chocolove's jokes would be hell to write, but judging from the dub, they seem like something that could have been thought up easily. I KNEW for a fact one of the drunk--ahem, (angry for the dub) guy was going to say clown, and that would be how theyd cover that one up....and besides, if they can't figure out a joke to replace the original with, they have the power to cut it out....T_T Joco in my opinion was handled well, I liked his somewhat--(I'll go with LC) urban voice, my most favorite line of his was "Whoa man! Rio whooped them?!" XD I don't know, he said it in a way....When I actually heard his urban voice more clearly, I started laughing out loud....(which made my sister call me a freak...) Yes, the mugger originally had a knife...and Orona's joke wasn't so lame....heh, in fact, they didn't even show him making the joke. I'm not sure...but I think when Chocolove does his attack, he had something else on his belly, not just the kangaroo, o_0, or maybe I was seeing things... I don't remember any mention of Peyote being a "Proxy user" or whatever they said...oh! and they altered his gloves, originally, the little lego thing on it said "Hao" (yes, even Hao's followers are into the lego fashion) Why exactly did they cut out the part Ren poked Chocolove? There's more blood in the Hao scene! (I bet you we'll be using this excuse for every scene they cut out  ) I originally liked Chocolove's introduction, in Japanese he says it sort of american like, and in spanish XD man it was just funny, he goes something like "Cho-co-lovee~~" Honestly, he spanish voice is really high, he even often makes little shrills...o_0 I have a feeling 4kids was promoting videogames in this episode... Tammy: I'll go look for him.. Anna: He's probably in the videogame arcade... I'm sure he is Anna...T_T Why must characters be made in arrogant people? Anna never told Faust such mean words....she just told him he has to do everything for Yoh...(or something...) Plus, it's revealed later on she's only using him to be the docter at the Funbari Onsen XD Joco-war, was not in the original, and there's no such thing as "spirit fusion". I think, like it was mentioned ealier, Chocolove uses his body as a medium. Oh, and I think Joco was a little more joke crazy, since they had him saying jokes when Orona was about to die...T_T, and Yoh and the others didn't see Orona floating in the air... Lyserg must be trippin' on acid! And Marco's name still hasn't been revealed! (i think...) And now, for unrelated shaman king stuff... Yay! the wheel that likes carnage is cool, but unfortunatly, DJ Jack is still around...this morning he turned pink during Kirby...o_0...and I think he's only going to be around for a little while...lets hope not! That winx contest would've been easy enough to win as playing checkers! >_O In my opinion, people have probably stop reading by the middle of this post so I'll stop here XD |

i accually read it all.
hehe i like the lego fashion they have going on. thou ashil would have looked werid wearing, oh let's say a lego pendant?
and i dunno is maco's name has been revealed yet. maybe they're still thinking of a way to dub it XD
the wheel was scarry...i'd prefer like a cat...or maybe a car...OH a bunny would be better!
yeah and kirby dj jack is VERY disturbing.

Unintentional humor I'm sure, but it is REALLY funny to hear Chocoloves voice once you realise it's Syaoran's voice. Why? Syaoran= serious Chocolove= INCREDIBLY hyper. It's just funny ^o^ . Well, it'll be a few more hours until the episode airs in my area. I'm reeeeaaaaallly not looking forward to seeing the Anna and Faust scene  . Why is it that the dub almost ALWAYS changes the context of Anna's scenes?? ?? |

That theory doesn't really work considering Anna was actually more manipulative in the original.
Here's the deal. I HATED the re-write to the Faust Anna scene. It contridicts BOTH of their characters!
While it's true that Faust was a bit depressed, it wasn't because he wanted human companions. It was simply that because he couldn't find information about Patch Village, he figured his chances for bringing back Eliza (by becoming Shaman King) seemed hopeless.
SO, here's the deal Anna made with Faust.
Anna will bring Eliza's spirit back for Faust IF (and only if) Faust agree's to help out Yoh.
(Anna would have the power to do this because of the Sen... erm.. THE BOOK.)
This "deal" is important for many reasons, because it comes up later, and more specificly ***When Faust reunites with Eliza he no longer has ANY desire to be Shaman King.***
EDIT: Woops, forgot to say how I feel about Joko's voice and Joko in general.
First, the way they pronounce Joko is different than I imagined. I thought it would sound like "Joke- oh" . HOWEVER, the way Joko is pronounced sounds an awful like how the begining of chocolate is pronounced in english. I kept thinking they WERE saying Choco(late) .
Second, his voice. Erm... it's gonna take some getting used to. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.
On the one hand... it DOES sort of fit his look. On the other hand, it doesn't really fit his uber-hyper personality. *shrugs* Like I said, it will take some getting used to.

To me, it sounded kinda like they were saying "Choco" instead of "Joco", but I can't say for sure. I've never seen the japanese Shaman King, but trying to imagine Li being hyper like Chocolove is really....hard. But I don't think the dub's voice is all that bad. He doesn't sound that deep to me, it has a slight squeek to it. I have lost all love for Lyserg. Get away from me you little green wierdo!!!! Faust does sound wierd, but maybe it's because he's not screaming so much like usual? And I didn't like how he sounded so whiney. Anna <i>should</i> have "destroyed" him. >.<  Overall, I like Choco. He is vewwy funny. (But I think Len's my favorite) |

ooookay I really need to start taking notes during the episode so I can remember everything I want to mention  First off I do not like Jocko's voice. Like Lovely mentioned it didn't fit his hyper personality. I'm glad is has a bit of an urban feel as LC posted, but I was thinking something more along the lines of HoroHoro's VA. Not exactly the same, but similar. Jocko's voice was just too clear and normal sounding.  ? His jokes were still great and I have a clip of Chocolove introducing himself and I saw the poke on the nose from Ren. Why did they cut it out. It's not like Ren ran him through or anything. The blood could be a shadow from the Kwan-Dao. I didn't even know for sure if it was blood. Poor Morty. He did look cute being terrified of Faust. Stupid pedophile voice Faust. His original dub-voice was better than this. Arcana where did you go? I thought the scene may have been tampered with. I thought Faust joined up with Yoh on his own. I didn't know Anna forced him too. Or make a deal or whatever. It lost the respect I was gaining for Faust as his remergence was drawing closer. I was all "Faust is gonna join Yoh. I knew he was a good guy after all." But then I was all "You are just looking out for yourself again. Get away from me." Or something like that. I really thought Faust changed. Maybe he will later I don't know! Cheesburger reference= crap! I did notice Lenny's voice cracked again. It's so cute when he let's his emotions go. "Like I told Jun I don't wear womens clothes!!!" Priceless!! XD I thought the Zen Bros. were actually fighting this battle. It saddened me that they were just used as puppets. "Chimi Chimi Moryo" was used in the episode where Ryu returns to the group as a shaman. The dub kept the name in that episode as well. Why won't they let the Zen Bros. play? Their music is awesome! ;_; Ramiro? ! Oh, well, his dub-voice was pretty good IMO. I also liked how he introduced his family of spirits. They just kept falling out of his coat. I thought who else do you have in there? XD The knife was edited out of that scene with Orona. I never saw the original, but it's so obvious!  Navel rock!!! XD That was his best joke. I liked the kangaroo on his stomach as well. And I'm glad they kept all of his tribal markings when he performs spirit fusion (!!) with "Big Mic" (?) I know there is more.......(looks for notepad) I will take notes next week. I get so frustrated when I can't remember what I want to say!! |

yeah i didn't like big mic and i was scared that it was gonna be his name thruout the series. luckily, they called him mic after.
hehe i loved it when jocko messed up trey's name. wasn't it like trey bracer or trey tracer? anyway that was funny.
the belly button thing was kinda freaky imho, but funny all at the same time.
