I think this thread has officially gone further off topic then it could possibly go!
Can we please bring it back to the subject or will it need to be locked?

you know what they should of gave shaman king to adv films, they would of kept everything. adv films respects anime, where 4kids just gets animes coz they have cards games.
if i see any christains trying to burn shaman king manga or the dvds, i would go oversoul on all their butts.
i cant see why christains and people who have nothing better to do than go through all the channels and write down everything that offends the slightest minority, because it makes them feel they are worth living.
shaman king like all animes and all forms of entertainment be it books, film, music are there to entertain everyone. if they dont like it just turn off the tv, there are other channels.
what i dont get is that the people that complain, their generation were brought up on tv and radio shows that were full of offense terms, just because they banned their shows doesnt mean they have to go out on an all out war path to get rid of every form of entertainment, so we will just sit aropund at home and hum to ourselfs

It's not just christians and please try to keep this from becoming a religious discussion please?
I guess parents don't agree with the stuff they were brought up on. Maybe they think that since they lived in a different time, then what they were subjected to was appropriate. Now with flimsy lawsuits and everyone trying to get rich quick, parents are probably trying to find anyway they can to get something for nothing.

Parents these days are just overprotective. They don't want us "sweet little kids" having our minds corrupted. They can't really be blamed if they go too far, in their eyes they're doing the right thing.

Yeah, parentsare just overprotective. But really, in this day and age, they have a right to be. TV, movies, and radio influence kids/teens/any age in positive or negative manners depending on what they watch/listen to. It makes sence. But why no one has really complained about Shaman King...-shrugg- who knows?

I just think the line that's been drawn between begin a good parent and being overprotective has gotten way too fuzzy. Some people just don't know when they have gone too far. They should have information on something before they make a decision on whether or not it's safe for their children.

I totally agree. Of course, the generation gap between my mom and I is only about 17 years, so she remembers that kids watch stuff. She says that as long as I don't do or say anything bad that's in it, she doesn't care.
Then there's my dad. He's overprotective. He doesn't like me watching Shaman King or anything, cuz he says that watching anime(or cartoons in general) makes me irrisponsible and that I'll never grow up. ¬¬; Is he saying my uncle's irresponsible cuz HE watches Anime?
As long as you don't take things the wrong way in shows, cartoons or live action, and mimic the wrong things, there should be nothing to complain about. I think the parents who complained during pokemon were definatly overprotective in all the wrong ways. ^.^;;; I'll shut-up now...

Actually, I believe it's because Jr's a parent that he can look at the whole issue from both sides.
My stand is that some stuff just SHOULDN'T be shown on childrens t.v. 4kids stand is, Hey we can change ANYTHING to be appropriate.
I find 4kids stance much more annoying than complaining parents.
Of course, Pokemon is harmless fluff so I never did understand the issue with that *laughs*.

I agree that there are some things that America isn't quite ready to show their kids yet on television, but I also agree that doesn't mean 4Kids can make pointless cuts, like Americanizing dialog etc. And if you can't target an anime at kids without completely screwing the whole thing up (Yugioh, for example), then you shouldn't bother dubbing that anime.
